Originally from Malaysia, I started to learn about horses and riding at age 12 as a hobby on the weekends; mostly on polo ponies. After I'd finished my schooling at age 19, I started to get serious with my riding and started to play polo.

I grew up in the Royal Johor Polo Club in Malaysia where most of my family members were and spend most of the time with polo. Despite this my interest is more towards Arabian horses and Endurance riding. For me personally Arabs are such a
beautiful horse. I started my endurance career a few years later when I was sent to one of the biggest and most successful endurance clubs in Malaysia: Ar-Raudhah Equine Centre. Since starting there I competed in endurance to national level around the country and also International level. The highlight in my endurance riding was when I was selected to ride for my country three times during 2004 - 2007. The best endurance ride for me ever was in Doha, Qatar in 2006. After few successful years in endurance, I decide to move to NZ and start my new life in 2008. This is when I started working at Abderry.
I continue to pursue an interest in Polo, riding for Taupiri Polo club.
Since starting at Abderry I've seen a lot of horses with different backgrounds, not like the horses in my home country. Most of horses in Malaysia are broken in and work well because we import them from overseas.
Here in NZ I have to work with them from the beginning, it's like white clean cloth. I have to paint it to look good. Its the same for all the young horses I work with here. I have to make them good because everyone wants a good horse. It is a new challenge for me since I left my hometown.
I always pride myself by accepting the challenge to work with new and young horses with a positive thought process. It’s my responsibility to help make them more and more confident and therefore better and better and better. This process is sometimes slow and a high level of patience is required, but that’s OK. I have patience. I also enjoy working with different kinds and different types of horses as then I face a different test everyday.
