Le Trec Competition format for Sunday 23rd August
Please enter Abderry via Gate 1 & leave via Gate 2. Thank you All three classes will start at 11.00am and the phases (and pace definitions) for each class will be as follows: Class 1 (PTV Course Open for an Unmounted Walking at 10.15am)
Class 2 ( PTV Course Open for an Unmounted Walking at 10.15am but there will be time for you to walk it after completing your CP Phase)
Class 3 (PTV Course Open for an Unmounted Walking at 10.15am but there will be time for you to walk it after completing your CP Phase)
There will be officials on hand to answer questions and the underlying aim of the day is to set the stage for everyone to have fun and really get a taste for the sport of Le Trec We are anticipating that the day will wrap up with a Prize Giving at approximately 2.00pm Please don't hesitate to be in touch if you have any queries. CP at Trot NOT canter There will be three parts to the competition which may or may not be run in the following order: 1. POR (Orienteering) Phase A Short Orienteering Course which will send you meandering around the Abderry property looking for check points that have to be reached at specific times to achieve maximum points. Most sections will be timed to be ridden at walk and trot. This section can be ridden individually or with a mounted partner or unmounted companion 2. CP (Control of Paces) Phase When it syour turn, you will canter (Class 1 will trot and Class 2 have a choice) as slowly as possible along a measured track and then you walk the same distance in reverse, as fast as possible. The slower you canter (Class 1 will trot and Class 2 have a choice) and the faster you walk, the more points you will get. 3. PTV Obstacle Phase A simple course of at least ten straightforward obstacles, simulated to represent those you might meet out hacking, to test the riding skills, and the training and handiness of your horse or pony. Suitable for ALL levels of rider, and every kind of horse or pony, these might include: a footbridge, bending poles, leading, a choice of jump heights, mounting, opening and closing a gate, rein back, riding through a corridor of poles on the ground or an S-bend or other tasks. The obstacles must be tackled in order within a time limit, and all obstacles are optional. You get points for completing each obstacle, plus bonus points for style, with a maximum of ten points on offer for each obstacle. Some obstacles will be adapted for use in an arena. Extra information will be displayed on the day, along with a course plan. What do we wear? Safe and comfortable riding gear (there isno requirement for show jacketsor plaiting up the horse), and your horse or pony susual tack, will be fine. Please read the rules. RULES 1. Competition open to all horse and ponies providing that they are a minimum of four years old in 2009 (i.e. a horse born in 2005 may compete) 2. Riders any age, juniors may ride horses and seniors may ride ponies. Riders in Class 1 may have an unmounted partner for the POR Phase 3. The decisions of the official and the Judges are final and must be complied with at all times. Competitors may be eliminated from the competition for any of the following reasons: Excessive use of the whip, abusive language, dangerous or inconsiderate riding or uncorrected PVT course error 4. No Dogs allowed. Penalty of Elimination 5. Please respect our Bio-Security Rules - Abderry Stable Area is OUT OF BOUNDS at all times. DO NOT ENTER UNDER CIRCUMSTANCES. Penalty of Elimination Tack and equipment will be checked. To earn full points the following should be carried on the POR phase: * Items are compulsory 6. Fluorescent/hi-viz clothing 7. Hard hat to current ESNS standard* 8. ID tag on rider and on horse (This can be a luggage label. Supply contact name and number)* 9. Map marking pen 10. Basic First aid kit for horse and rider (This should contain bandage, small coin, paracetomol & Antiseptic cream) 11. Whistle (Preferably attached to rider) 12. Medical Armband (Can be purchased from most good tackshops. This also doubles up as rider ID)* . 13. Riders may choose to wear a body protector during any phase of the competition. If worn Beta 3 standard is strongly recommended. 14. Riders must wear suitable riding footwear*. 15. All horses must be led from the bit by taking the reins over the head* . 16. Whips must not exceed 75cms. Spurs not permitted 17. Mobile phone* 18. Drink & Snack for Rider 19. Suitable jacket or coat or the weather conditions of the day. *Hard hat and medical armband required for ALL phases of the event NB Pairs competitors may have all the compulsory items between them unless advised otherwise. However, they must EACH have hard hat, competitor ID, horse ID, medical armband and are encouraged to carry the full list if possible. .
