Spring Horses, Le Trec, Show Jumping, Show Hunter & Blyth Tait
- We're all looking forward to great things for the horses as spring takes hold. Along with this, the new season also comes with some challenges in the form of over excitable young, inexperienced and/or fresh horses. I don’t care who you are - 500kg of bouncing horseflesh is intimidating!
As we're being asked lots of "How do I deal with this?" type questions at the moment we've posted an article "Developing Safety and Control" on the website for your reference. This article comes with a very simple "Tick in the box" Pre-Ride Safety Check Sheet which I hope you find useful.
- Cortaflex. We've been cautious about using "yet another" cure all product but the horses we've been monitoring who are on Cortaflex HA are happier in their work. We therefore now stock and endorse Cortaflex as one of our preferred products
- This Sunday 16th August I'm running a "Le Trec Clinic". The clinic has only a couple of spaces left but you are welcome to book in to come and watch so that you're mentally prepared for the Horse Trader/Abderry Le Trec Competition on 23rd August.
- Sunday 23rd August in association with Horse Trader Magazine we're hosting our second Le Trec Competition. If you haven’t already done so, see Pages 18 & 19 of the August Horse Trader edition for pictures and write up of our first Le Trec on 5th July. We're excited about the potential for the sport of Le Trec as we see it is providing a level playing field. The activities in Le Trec span all dsciplines, allowing for all grades of riders & their horses to have a go and have fun.
- If you like the idea of Le Trec but you don’t want to compete on 23rd August, would you like to be a part of the action and join the ground crew for the day? Click here if you can be a part of the organisation and we'll reward your effort with some refreshments and "Abderry Dollars" redeemable on Ground, Lesson and/or Entry Fees.
- Show Jumping & Show Hunter Training Show Sunday 6th September. The classes will be judged under Show Jumping rules but as it’s early in the season the striding and courses will follow easy flowing Show Hunter type lines and distances so that both disciplines can train over the same fences.
- Blyth Tait is running his first 2009/2010 Clinic at Abderry on 12th/13th September. As usual spaces are filling fast so don't miss out on a chance to train with one of the world's best. See the Events page for details and bookings.
- Coaching with Cheski. Looking for some One on One Coaching Sessions so that you can dictate the pace of the session? Good. Have a look at what Cheski offers. Warning: the rate for Mule Racing Tips will be expensive!
- Facility hire. The Abderry arenas and track are available for casual hire at $ 20.00/horse. E-mail info@abderry.co.nz. Discounts applicable on pre-paid multiple bookings
Hopefully the current dry weather conditions will continue long enough for you to get a head start on the season.
Have fun and enjoy your horses
