Bobbie Fisk, 57 yr old female, riding since aged 6, hunted in UK and NZ,
Ridden at shows to A& P level on a young horse, who now is rising 12, and as our partnership grew we have now competed in s/j, low level dressage and cross country. Prior to having sessions with Cheski, I believed I had no style, not very “brave” and only an average rider. NOW, I am confident and you would see a capable, confident rider (and horse), with a good position, better concentration and accuracy, and all in all I believe a “nice picture” of general skill and enjoyment.
If one was to spectate at one of my coaching sessions, they would notice that I don’t get upset if I, or my horse, make mistakes. They would understand how pupil and coach communicate, sometimes with just a “look” which may say, “well done” or “do it again properly please” No long discussions whilst training, but lots of “post-mortem” discussions are encouraged when session completed. My coach has a style which I believe suits me personally, as I have had various types of instructors (drsge, s/j and s/h) over the last 20 years and never felt I was making any real improvements. I have had many successes since training with Cheski, small and not so small, in all disciplines and no other trainer, coach, instructor or other “helper” has made me feel, and ride, the way I do today. I know that I will not be asked to tackle anything that I or my horse are not capable of, which again, instills an inner confidence to me as I have complete trust in Cheski.
I take my training sessions very seriously and always end them on a “high” as it were and always smiling, there is often some subtle humour (when appropriate of course) which I can really relate to and enjoy the lighter moments when training.
I honestly, do not want any other coach to help me, you encourage and challenge continually, you make me use my brain and think about what I’m doing, by asking me (and not telling me) what went right or what wasn’t quite right. The only way you could do more for me would be to do a 3 day clinic/session (whatever you want to call it) on or off site (Abderry/ Taupo etc) as you have done before, as that seemed to really refine all aspects of my “horsing around” with my lovely horse.
